SAN DIEGO, Calif. — July 29, 2025 — As threats to national security evolve at unprecedented speed, Core Systems is proud to support Lockheed Martin in building a next-generation missile defense strategy for the U.S. homeland. At the center of this effort is Golden Dome, a layered defense initiative designed to detect and neutralize aerial threats through advanced radar and integrated computing systems.
Core Systems President Chris Schaffner announced the company’s expanded role in the initiative, underscoring a longstanding partnership with Lockheed Martin built on shared values of readiness, resilience, and innovation.
“Our collaboration with Rick Cordaro and his team at Lockheed Martin is shaping the future of missile defense,” said Schaffner. “It’s not just about building rugged hardware. It’s about advancing a vision for homeland security that demands high performance in the most extreme environments.”
Core Systems was chosen to deliver ruggedized rack infrastructure for the Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR), a cornerstone of the Missile Defense Agency’s tracking and detection network. The LRDR, along with the TPY-6 and Sentinel A4, are key components in the Golden Dome architecture, providing early warning and real-time targeting of threats ranging from ballistic missiles to hypersonic weapons.
“Deterrence begins with detection,” said Rick Cordaro, Vice President of Radar and Sensor Systems at Lockheed Martin. “Core Systems helps us achieve that by ensuring the reliability and survivability of our platforms in the field.”
Golden Dome is more than a defense program. It’s a new strategy to create a scalable, distributed shield over the continental U.S. and its territories. With real-time data processing and layered sensor fusion, the initiative is redefining how the Department of Defense approaches modern missile threats.
As a trusted supplier, Core Systems has introduced a new generation of rugged tactical platforms purpose-built for multi-domain operations, including:
“These aren’t lab concepts. They’re fielded systems already in use by U.S. special forces and mobile command units,” said Schaffner. “Every server, every laptop, every rack we build helps ensure our forces stay a step ahead of emerging threats.”
Golden Dome is fast becoming one of the most important defense programs of the next decade. Core Systems is committed to delivering rugged platforms that ensure mission success through performance, reliability, and seamless integration.
